Naming The SeasonsSeasons Poems

This metaphor seasons poem, one of my “Picturing the Seasons” collection which personifies each season, is an excellent example of figurative language, being full of personification, imagery and hyperbole/metaphors.

If Spring was a person, who would that be?
I think she’s the Princess of Hope;
Lifting our spirits by seeing things through
Her magical kaleidoscope.

If Summer was a person, who would that be?
She could be the Promenade Queen;
Wearing her colourful gown with pride,
Creating a beautiful scene.

If Autumn was a person, who would that be?
A Princely Master of Change;
Delighting in seeing, from his golden throne,
The world around him rearrange.

 If Winter was a person, who would that be?
A King with a powerful voice;
Declaring his ownership of all around
But regally sharing, by choice.

If the year was a person, who would that be?
Someone combining all four…..
A Prince and Princess, a King and a Queen;
A wonderful Ambassador.

 From the “Picturing the Seasons” Collection

This poem is one of a series of 5 seasons poems (this one being a summary of the other four) which has fantastic educational potential when studying figurative language, as each one is an example of imagery, alliteration, personification and metaphor poetry and is illustrated to show exactly the image that I had in mind when I personified each season.
