Season Poems
This illustrated season poem, from my “Picturing The Seasons” collection of poems, is a lovely example of personification and imagery and includes masses of metaphors and alliteration.
Springtime is here: The Princess of Hope
Waits for the start of the ball.
The Master of Ceremonies clears his throat
To announce her arrival to all.
“Announcing the Princess, the Hope of the Nation”….
The guests hold their breath in anticipation.
The Princess arrives and takes to the floor,
Dressed in her modest design;
Keeping her humble and graceful repose,
She waits for her moment to shine.
“Announcing the wonderful Waltz of Finesse,
Led by our very own precious Princess”
The birds chorus praises from blossom filled trees;
The daffodils stand to applaud.
The Princess sweeps colour, whilst life-loving lambs
Celebrate with one accord.
“Please all be upstanding, and show your respect
As the Presence of Spring leaves her lasting effect.”
From the “Picturing the Seasons” Collection
This is one of a series of 5 seasons poems (one is a summary of the year) which has fantastic educational potential when studying figurative language, as each one is an example of imagery, alliteration, personification and metaphor poetry and each is illustrated to show exactly the image that I had in mind when I personified each season.
